Summer Tips for Child Safety

No one needs to tell Tampa Bay residents that Summer has arrived!

Whew!

Many parents are planning to send their children to Summer Camps this season.

Here is a valuable Tip Sheet published by a local Pediatric Group.

Here is a local TV Report and not so gentle reminder about leaving children in your car while you run some errands!  The results can be serious, so please take precautions!  Leaving children or pets in your car is a CRIME!!

FOX 13 took a thermometer and put it inside a car Tuesday. In just five minutes, the temperature rose 10 degrees.  Doctors say within 15 minutes inside a car, a child's system can shut down.

"Their body temperature starts going up. It's a massive effect. It gets to the point, where their natural cooling isn't able to overcome the heat of the environment, " said Dr. Neil Reinhardt, an Emergency Room Physician at Tampa General Hospital.

Firefighters with Tampa Fire Rescue say they average a call a week to rescue a child in a car.  Most of the time, it's an accident. A parent may have locked their keys along with their child, in the vehicle.

But it doesn't matter if it's an accident or not.  Time is not on their side.

"It doesn't take long for a child to go into heat exhaustion and heat stroke.  Then they go into seizures. Then they die," Capt. Jace Kohan explained.

It doesn't take long for the heat to set in, and the effects can last a lifetime.

Advanced Film Solutions reminds all parents and any care giver that temperatures in Tampa can become deadly.

Our window films certainly keep your car cooler and reduce 99.9% of the UV. .but. .the temperatures build up very quickly in a stationery vehicle that is not running the AC. .no matter how effective our films may be.

Never take chances with our children's safety!
