The Power of The Internet Or Googling 101

As every small business knows the rise of the GREAT Googling Moogling has virtually made the Yellow Pages go the way of the bicycle built for two!



The power of search engines, specifically Google and to a lesser degree Yahoo! and MSN.Com are the "new" Yellow Pages (so "they" say!) And "THEY" are 100% right!

Google Ad Words is another facility for grabbing attention as opposed to the so called "organic" listings you see when you type a search for something as innocuous as "window film Tampa Bay".

As a purveyor of all things Internet and an advocate for all window film dealers to become relevant on the Internet since the beginning (do I sound like Al Gore??)  My casual observation is that this wacky world of window films remains the most fun someone can have in the world.  The "best kept secret". .the product that seems so all-encompassing it's very much like Jello. .difficult to grab hold of in one place!

Ironically it's the major manufacturers that are hostages to what is "good and not so good" about the Internet! 

They are stuck in a virtual ICE AGE of a domain that allows few updates or real-time user interaction.  This stagnation simply means that the "old is forever new". .but the end result is candidly quite boring and self-limiting.

The web guru's at these sites who clearly understand the "real world" of web searching and SEO must feel like the Count of Monte Cristo sitting handcuffed in a tower somewhere forced to watch but never allowed to participate!

We aren't picking on anyone in particular  since the major players are pretty much all in that same stagnant boat.

The best these poor folks can do is to issue semi-annual press releases claiming "new" technology for items released last year, or in some cases a decade ago! Try to dinoc it!

Here's the most comical tactic, spending big bucks on sponsored searches on the BIG Three Search Engines!

Given the generic quality of the search terms "window film" or "window Tinting" you might just imagine the order of listing for that "fuzzy search".  Of course you don't have to wonder because there are search sites that can tell you exactly the order these companies line up organically on  various search engines!

So some committee meeting with their Corporate Guru/Maven has to decide exactly what other search terms to pay per click??

Imagine that meeting??

A bunch of sly (they assume) corporate suits (or are we casual that day?) sitting around a conference room. "Hey. .how about such and such." I wonder??

Try it yourself - -do a
Google Search for Vista Films or Vista Window Films.

How about Advanced Film Solutions??

Look at the very top of the page and on the side of the search page. This is where you'll find the Sponsored Search results.  This is where all the fun and games can be found. Amazing how so many non VISTA Dealers and companies that compete with VISTA show up. .eh?
