Internet Versus The Yellow Pages

The Yellow Page wars are going on behind the scenes while most Americans are oblivious to the surges and counter surges.

Small businesses everywhere face the decision concerning advertising in the numerous Yellow Pages in their marketing area.  Since there are now more than three yellow pages in just our part of the world (Tampa Bay) and the monthly cost to have a display ad is outrageous; well deciding whether to advertise in one, two or three books can keep you awake at night (not this night. .I just wake up early!)

So. .we have Tampa's "King of the Hill"- Verizon-Idearc, followed by The Real Yellow Pages (AT&T) and the good old Yellow Book.

Each book "drops" published and delivered at different times of the year, the Yellow Pages hope that consumers will simply throw away their competitor's book when they get the new one on their door step!

Compare the huge cost and the fact that once your ad is in the Yellow Pages you are stuck for an entire year,  compare that to the Internet!!

Obviously--since you are reading this blog entry you found me on the Internet. I would bet that we were found using GoogleYahoo or MSN.

We are ready to take the plunge and go COLD TURKEY on the Yellow Pages - -a "pox on all their houses!"

Just when I think I have it all figured out a consumer calls Advanced Film Solutions and says: "Hey I saw your ad in the Yellow Pages and. ."

Check out the beauty of VISTA Films. .how can you do that in the Yellow Pages??
