Setting Window Tinting Goals & Executing Them

Setting goals for your business and writing your business plan are critical elements to small business success.

This article is directed to something perhaps more important and that's executing your business plan.

Putting aside all the business jargon and clichés I  heard during my 33 years at 3M; it boils down to the "best business plan is doing something!"

An A Rated Business Plan with an F Rated execution = F Rated Success.

Remember what General George S. Patton said: "A good plan violently executed today is far and away better than a perfect plan tomorrow."

1. Know your product or solution better than anyone else. Educate yourself on every aspect of your offering. Whether that's selling window film or a hot dog.  This process lets you find your voice or rather what defines you uniquely apart from your competitors.

2. Gather all relevant facts concerning your solution's strengths or weaknesses against your direct competition. Never stop your learning process!

Measure everything of significance.
Anything that is measured and watched, improves.

3. Explore the specific markets that have the "need" and the financial capability to direct your execution plan focus.

4. Focus your resources on your strengths. Don't try to be all things to all people. There are always temptations to add to your solutions portfolio. Think it through before you add on a new widget to sell.

5. Find your passion. You need to believe in your solution. Discuss the solutions you offer with your suppliers and industry experts. Ask questions. . never accept an answer that sounds like a slogan!

6. Stay in the moment when you are face to face with your prospects. It sounds obvious; but life offers us many distractions, particularly for a small business owner. Thinking or worrying about something other than your customer's issues will be detected by your prospective client.  If you are not in the selling mood than reschedule your appointments!

7. Practice the art of selling and read as many sales improvement articles and books you can get you hands on!

8. Develop a case of short term memory loss about failure or a lost sale. Learn from your loss and move forward.  Keep a healthy sense of humor! They say that "laughter is the best medicine" and they are 100% correct!

9. Have faith in your people and their ability to develop their skills with your guidance.

10. Lose the EGO! Be prepared to alter your course when you realize a strategy is not working. Emulate the success of others and ask them how they did it?

Ethics isn't an esoteric subject for University students; it's the basis for everything that follows.

Being ethical in your business with your employees and customers as well as your suppliers is the foundation for all possibilities.
