NFRC Certification In Plain English
The NFRC certification is an important step in the window film industry. The International Window Film Association has been collectively involved in meetings over the course of the recent few years in setting the guidelines for certification and ensuring that window film would be included as an energy efficient device.
Accurate measurements of a particular window film performance on glass have been well known for decades. The issue for the window film industry was how to objectively quantify these performance characteristics, and how to certify the accuracy of these results?
By accomplishing this requirement CP Films (and Huper Optik) enables consumers to make an objective decision (the level playing field) and potentially qualify for rebates and incentives that are driven by the U.S Department of Energy, Energy Star programs.
Window manufacturers have had a head start (as you might expect) The removable temporary labels currently appear on their certified products.

Window film was a different situation since the installation is typically a retrofit on an installed window. Your particular home (let's use Florida for example) where many homes have windows that are typically 1/8" clear single pane (commercial glass may have 1/4" glass.) These clear glass types are extremely inefficient since they allow so much solar energy (heat) to be transmiited into your home. The installation of an energy efficient window film can reduce that heat by a tremendous amount, saving cooling costs (your energy bill!)
The certified lab tested performance of the installed window film will now become available to consumers.
Obviously certain types of window film may be more "energy efficient" than others based on their visible light transmission (how dark?) and their SHGC (how much heat is entering the room?) This is the trade-off between energy efficiency and aesthetics. As experts in energy efficient window film we can guide you through these selections so that you can make the best choice for your specific home.

The fact that CP Films has become the first window film manufacturer to take these steps and demonstrate their true performance of their window film indicates their continued commitment to the consumer for accuracy in their window film's published performance characteristics.
Huper Optik has become only the second company to receive certification and we are proud of both of our key manufacturers for their diligence.
As a personal aside; it is this consumer oriented mindset at CP Films and VISTA Window Film, that encouraged Advanced Film Solutions to become a Vista Window Film independent dealer.
This is just another reason to consider VISTA or Huper Optik Window Film for your Florida home!
We highly recommend that you consider an energy retrofit for your windows by installing our Vista or Huper Optik window film as compared to your cost for replacing your windows.
