Clearwater Home Show Buzz
I decided that spending my day at the Home Show might be more fun than hanging around all day, plus the "Boy Wonder" needed a break!
There is nothing more interesting than chatting with locals at a home show. It gives you an amazing opportunity to figure out just what people are thinking about right now. One key issue on their minds was IG units and many folks were looking to upgrade their windows for better energy efficiency. Vista Window film is an excellent alternative. NFRC rated Vista Films can immediately improve the energy efficiency of your existing glass an at a cost 1/10th that of replacing your windows.
There was a surprisingly large number of locals asking about "Hurricane" Window Film. Given the last two years of quiet in Florida hurricane activity; and the last few months of consumers asking for energy savings window film; that everyone was talking up hurricanes had me scratching my head in wonder!
Perhaps it was simply the result of my competitors booths that have swirling hurricane pictures and screaming headers like "8 ML Hurricane Film!!"
The LLumar dealers and the Solar Gard dealer seem to have forgotten all about the solar control benefits of their own window film and remain 100% fixated on hurricanes.
My competitive LLumar friends incidentally have both closed their offices and now work out of their homes to save on overhead expense. That was interesting news. (I asked them if they needed me to put a great film like Vista on their homes!)
Still- it provided a super opportunity to explain why the Vista Safety and Security Films are safe for IG and dual pane glass (LLumar darker security films are NOT) . That both LLumar and Vista films passed that 4.5 LB Missile Test, Armorcoat and 3M do not.
That Vista has a transferable warranty and comprehensive glass protection warranty (Pro-Tech Armorcoat, 3M and LLumar do not.)
The surprising hurricane conversations reminded me of what selling is all about. The customer drives the discussion rather than the other way around.
The energy rebates, green building, saving money on electric bills I thought was important- -evidently were unimportant to the folks at this show.
