Someone asked me if I missed the that LOGO?
That red 3M logo that was on my business card for 33 years.
The subject came up yesterday when we were discussing our last 6 months sales and our business plans for 2008.
One key adviser made the comment that if we had that logo, imagine how many more installations we might have performed simply based on the consumers awareness level of the 3M name? Plus he went on, "with your background as National Sales Manager, imagine your credibility?"
This is pretty much what I told him:
Certainly I am proud of my 33 years with 3M.
I am also realistic in recognizing, all things being equal, an uninformed (in window film) consumer would be inclined to select the better known logo over a company or solution that was less well known to them.
Would it help getting in the door?
Probably!
Would we be able to up our installed prices based upon the consumer's perception?
Possibly!
Would that Logo placed on an ad, generate a better return or response rate?
Very likely!
Is that the "be all and end all" the difference between winning versus losing?
Absolutely not!
We deal in facts rather than hyperbole.

Consumers, particularly in a tougher economy, are less inclined to make a knee jerk selection when it comes to investing in a window film solution. Now more than ever with Hurricanes squeezing Florida right in the middle!
Our emphasis is on educating our clients.
Accurately comparing our Lumenesse Vista, LLumar and Huper Optik Window Films versus the logo boys or our Solar Gard friends.
If the logo should win based on the consumer's research and determination that they actually offer a better and documented safer solution, than so be it!
After all this Hilton is also very well known!
