Updated Opinions- Sure We Have Them!

Now that a "certain" brand of window film (that I might be somewhat familiar) has had a total management change; here is my unsolicited advice!

It's called INTROSPECTION
  1. Take stock in your current conditions. No matter how messed up their strategy was, they hardly made a dent in the reputation and tradition of the brand. Certainly the moves made during the last several years have cost you growth and loyalty from your channel. Some moves can never be undone.  Have the wisdom to face that reality and move forward.

  2. Improve your product solutions so that they are competitive! Review your portfolio and dig deep and truly innovate, rather than re-boxing other manufacturer's films. It's so much more than "sticky side down!"

  3. Respect your channel!  Try to "walk in their shoes." It isn't quite as easy as you'd like to think. Have you seen what I have done here in Tampa to your channel??

  4. Dealers need to have a return on their investment. Your constant tinkering and adding new dealers in mature markets has eroded your strong dealer's profitability. That's the reason so many of them have elected NOT TO PAY YOUR USURY FEES!

  5. Consult with your dealers. Listen to their concerns rather than paying "lip service."

  6. Wake up and develop a film that can pass the ASTM Missile Test! It is important to back your channel with credentials rather than baloney.

  7. Reconsider some of the major mistakes that were made.  Own up to the threats, poor logic and emotionalism.

  8. Trust is always an earned outcome, rather than a dictated policy.

  9. Show humility, and always follow ethical standards in every aspect of your business dealings.

  10. Be honest and admit their past mistakes and fix them!

Hey. .but what do I know?

Yet a little while and the wicked man will be no more;  And you will look carefully for his place and he will not be there

Those folks who know me, understand that I have my opinions and am only too happy to share them. Now free to be "NORMAL."

Freedom!

The corporate yoke that is placed upon employees seemed second nature to me after 33 years at 3M. It became a natural part of corporate culture; not so much stated as a rule, but rather socially accepted within the confines of limiting freedom of thought or commentary.

Naturally any typical corporate citizen recognizes the safety value of silence. The huge penalty for free thought, creativity and expression while offering up recommendations becomes a huge deterrent to one's career path.

As a useful metaphor the "Wizard of Oz" comes to mind.

As a child the Flying Monkeys always fascinated me.  How could they be so willing to give Dorothy that broomstick so quickly after the wet demise of their boss?

The answer is painfully simple.

They never believed in the Wicked Witch. They followed orders based on fear or anticipated reprisal. There was never any loyalty or admiration. They followed her orders  because one unusual monkey may have offered up an opinion or suggestion and was disposed with quickly by Ms. Witch.

As the once powerful and mighty fall on their mountain of empty results, does anyone despair?

I thought not.
