Window Tinting - Summer 2008
My view of the window tinting business is always fluid.
There are economic concerns throughout the USA and homeowners are far less willing to part with their hard earned money!
This is the economic backdrop to everything you might consider as a window film dealer this second and third quarter, 2008.
"God Helps Those Who Help. . ."
Never more true for 2008.
The major window film manufacturers are seemingly unwilling or unable to drive consumer awareness as we approach the long hot days of summer.
This may be due to a lack of cash or fortitude as they all face a harsh global economy.
This has had a negative impact on their operating income based on logistic cost increases as well as raw material costs that will impact their manufacturing costs in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Why else would they be scurrying around , lopping off staff, finding ways not to compensate you for co-ops, delaying their warranty processes and reducing their overall market coverage?
Dealers who have seen their profits diminish through the last 18 months (sound familiar?) need to define their business plan and marketing message to a degree that they have never done before.
Essentially the question drills down to:
What is your cost to advertise and what is the cost of NOT ADVERTISING?

Sure. . you might try calling your wonderful corporate sales rep or some other "mumbo-jumbo spewing bobble head" who will only parrot that same simple-minded mantra they were told to say. At the very least get a free lunch or dinner while they babble (on and on) about how lucky you are that they allow you to carry their brand.
Let me drill down all his mindless drivel down for you. .

They want to sell more film. 30% more from you this year would be a "nice start."
