Advertisers Scramble For Business

Running your own "small business" requires that you wear many hats.

In the old days, whenever I had to entertain clients or plan a trip, I could always rely on 3M to foot the bill. They paid for the company car and the insurance as well as the gas.  Very nice! Sales people never paid for advertising (come to think of it, 3M window film hardly ever advertised so I guess they were in the same boat?)

So when I decided to start my own business I had little to no experience in spending my own money on advertising.

Little did I know!!

Every single day I am besieged with phone calls from advertisers in Tampa Bay and beyond.  Everything from ads in toilets, to sponsoring the 15th green at Golf tournaments.  Billboards, Clear Channel, Brighthouse, Radio, park benches, school directories, church newsletters, coupon books, internet people who promise immediate top of Google placements!

THE LIST IS ENDLESS!

Every day, ten times a day. From dawn till dusk!

                  Here come the advertisers!!

Oops, hold on while I "just say no" to yet another telemarketer!

Throw in the recorded messages about my car warranty expiring and it's enough to drive you to drink!

If. . .and
I say IF. .I decide to meet with any of them, they spill the beans on the advertising plans of my dear 3M competitor Solar Security.  One naturally assumes that the same door swings both ways??

Now I understand why dealers hire that lady at the front desk to play interference and handle all these calls by telling them the "owner isn't in right now!"

I may have to bite that bullet and get my very own "gate-keeper!"

"Oh, I'm sorry, Mr. Feldman isn't in the office right now, might I take a message?"

For the near future. . I am "PERMANENTLY OUT OF THE OFFICE!!"
