Did You Vote?
No; not for a Presidential favorite but rather for "YOUR NEXT American IDOL!!!"
Whatever your opinion may be between the two David's it really burned me that the judges were so clearly favoring Mr. Archuleta over Mr. Cook!
Now, I'll admit it, I know absolutely nothing about singing.
It's lucky I know window film! (Boo Hoo)
BUT
It was obvious that Simon, Randy and Paula were beating their drum for the sobbing boy with the booming voice! By the way, what's with all those tears??
Now, when and if, I ever lose to 3M (extremely unlikely; ask them!) I might whimper a bit. .(boo hoo)
I hate it when anyone tells me someone won when I am deciding for myself. Darn. .now I feel like crying!
All I was thinking was how many calls we would have received today if any of the window film manufacturer's spent some money advertising on Idol! Yeah, I know. .I know. .
Oops there go the "water works again!
"Boo Hoo!!"

Until the industry mfr. leaders wake up and decide to change their ways, things won't change for the direction of our industry. How about a mfr. line in the sand with a DEMAND for professionalism in how their products are represented by the dealer network? How about NO power in the hands of any distributor until they can demonstrate the same. If they can't improve and grow the industry, then at least, don't allow them to continue to do harm to the industry. If you are a mfr. and you want to grow the market, we need a major injection of professionalism. You need to STOP making the private label films you sell to anyone who wants to be the newest distributor on the block. You can't control how and to who they sell so you are undermining all your well intended efforts by supporting these activities. Make and market YOUR brand of films, support only the professionals who will help you grow the market and let the private label distributor dregs and tinter/dealer dregs scramble to find the bottom to feed off of. Combine this strategy with a MAJOR consumer awareness program and you will be the leader.

Some very good points. However, you must remember, the key to building business for a manufacturer is to continue to get the product to every aspect of the market. This includes selling to many installers, retail outlets and wholesalers. To suggest that a manufacturer not make a private label brand is foolish. This is like telling a grocery manufacturer to stop making private label brands for your local grocery store. Definately not happening because this is how they get most of the market share, directly and indirectly. Every manufacturer makes private label brands, and if they did not, there are so many off shore companies that would do it, they would lose business so greatly, that you would soon only have off shore garbage to sell!!! This is business, not the backyard. You want to tell Joey that he can't play with Jimmy because you don't like Jimmy, well, fine!!! But in the real world, businesses need to grow and expand to stay alive. If they do what you deem to be 'professionalism' and discontinue making a product that puts profits into their hands to suit your model of business, they would be run out quick.

I have no strong opinion on private label films except when the company that is carrying the private label overstates the film performance or pretends it is anything other than what it is.
