Hurricane Preparation For Pets In Tampa Bay

Hurricane Season begins is here and many of our neighbors have pets (we do!) to consider.

Read this article by the Tampa SPCA on hurricane tips for your pets. Preparation once again is the key!

Pet Survival Kit

Have your pet's cage or carrier and a Doggy Disaster or Kitty Catastrophe Supply Kit prepared in advance regardless of evacuation requirements. Keep these items in a watertight container, insuring that they are easily accessible in the event of sudden evacuation. Be certain to label all items with a tag or waterproof marker. A pet survival kit is imperative whether evacuating or not,and should include the following items:

  • Collar with tags & a sturdy leash and muzzle, if necessary
  • Any necessary medications - 2 weeks supply
  • Medical records & vaccination info
  • First aid kit
  • Food and water - at least 2 weeks supply
  • Ziplock bags for treats and important papers
  • Cat litter, pan, and liners
  • Plastic trash bags to handle waste
  • Newspaper and paper towels for clean ups
  • Toys and other comfort items
  • Photo of your pet
While you stay vigilant in protecting your loved ones, remember to consider Advanced Film Solutions for increasing the strength and integrity of the windows on your home!
