The Rebirth Of SunGard?
The "Phoenix?" of the window tinting industry recently produced this Press Release.
Here is their retooled website.
This is a fascinating "real world" business study, or at the very least, I think it is!
SunGard (FTI) had closed earlier this year having experienced a decline in profitability and dealer loyalty.

As a student of the window film industry it will be interesting to observe how the new management team approaches the U.S marketplace?

It doesn't take a genius to consider the obstacles as well as the potential opportunities that their management team is facing in June, 2008.
I know what I would do if I were them, but that's a different topic perhaps best left aside for the moment!

- We are in a down economy.
- Their channel needs redevelopment in distribution and dealer base.
- Their product mix was a key reason for their decline. The future product mix has to solve the former companies problems or face similar results.
- Their pricing structure compared to low ball film suppliers like Global, Hanita and SunTek is a key factor for carving out a competitive position.
- Competition is fierce. While I am not impressed with the marketing or sales creativity of the current industry leaders; they will not easily let this reborn company take market share without resistance.
I know what I would do if I were them, but that's a different topic perhaps best left aside for the moment!

Hi Mike,
interestin subject. Solamatrix is a subsidary of Novomatrix, which is the parent company of Huper Optik. They now have the facility to make their own conventional films. They have the money, they bought this company very cheaply. Better than buying from somebody else and relable. Yes, it will be interesting to see how this develops.

Yes; having $$ is better than the alternative, but it will take more than cash to make the leap into a successful strategy. It's begins with VISION and targeting profitable markets rather than spreading themselves too thin.
