Energy Star Ratings And Window Film
There may be some confusion concerning the Energy Star ratings and window film in general.
Currently there are no Energy Star rated window films. The delay? According to the Energy Star people themselves they base these ratings upon the NFRC Certification.
Since there are several window film manufacturers (CP Films, LLumar Vista Madico and Huper Optik-Southwall) that have qualified. Advanced Film Solutions Tampa Bay, uniquely represents each of these solutions providers.

The Energy Star people are waiting for a larger base of window film manufacturers to establish their ratings.

This is a key reason why the IWFA (International Window Film Association) is encouraging the laggards to join their peers so that we can finally obtain the coveted Energy Star label.
Now you might have noticed that several window film companies highlight their Energy Star Partner relationship. Interestingly this is an entirely different consideration based on the flawed terminology of the Energy Star people themselves, it's small wonder that there is abuse and consumer confusion!
Window Film companies may promote energy efficient products. Manufacturers can commit to implementing Energy Star suggestions and meet targets reducing demand at their corporate headquarters.
This has nothing at all to do with Energy Star Ratings for the window film!
Frankly the window film dealers, manufacturers and distributors who extoll their being Energy Star Partners, are either deliberately or innocently misleading Joe Public. Take your pick!

My head is starting to ache thinking about all of this gobbledy gook!
Here's the bottom line!
Vista Films Huper Optik and Madico are NFRC Rated. They have documented their film performance and the specifications have been certified.

Thanks for clearing the air on this one Mike! Energy Star ratings are one huge way that the window film industry can create consumer awareness which has been sorely needed. Window Film Professionals should urge their suppliers to take the necessary steps to gain this valuable certification for their products. Everyone complains about lack of public awareness, well... now is your chance to do something about it.
