Why The Medium Large ASTM 1886 MissileTest Is Important To Pass?

This blog has been a staunch advocate for testing and documentation concerning safety and security impact and wind storm debris testing, for obvious reasons!

We represent Lumenesse and  VISTA Films that have passed this impact and wind-load cycling threshold.

ASTM 1886 Pass Report
SUMMARY

Why is this important?

Check out these two examples of the current insurance mitigation forms below.

Mitigation Form
Traveler's

"Basic Impact– All glazed openings (windows, skylights, sliding glass doors, doors with windows, etc) must be protected with impact resistant coverings (e.g. shutters), impact resistant doors, and/or impact resistant glazing that meet the requirements of ASTM E 1886 and ASTM E 1996."

All glazed openings between 30 and 60 feet above grade must meet the Small Missile Test of the standard. All glazed openings less than 30 feet above grade shall pass testing for the Missile Level B – 4.5 lb.)

Most Florida homes are single level, ranch style with window openings less than 30 feet in elevation.

This is why passing the 4.5 LB Missile Test requirement is so critical.

Our Geoshield Lumenesse Films have also recently met this test criteria.

When competition implies that they have "passed", cordially ask them to hand you their PASS Report!

Be vigilant!

Be 100% certain that the competitor provides you their PASS REPORT  for the specific window film that they are proposing! Not a thicker clear only film!

Be very clear on this matter!!

Those who PASS talk. .Those who Fail walk!
