Hurricane Season and Window Film 2009

Tampa homeowners and commercial property managers held their breath when Hurricane Ike looked like it was heading toward the Bay area.

Floridians are starting to shake ourselves awake to this reality. The 2009 hurricane season began on June 1, 2009.  It's been very quiet so far but we all know that our "real" season begins in late July.

We live in hurricane alley and the last few years of quiet is really much more a matter of luck than anything else.

Advanced Film Solutions
offers the most choices in solar and security combination shatter films that hold glass in place during storms. These films have superior performance and have been tested and passed the 4.5 LB missile test and cycling. Our primary competition in safety and security films (3M) does not meet this safety level of performance with the exception of their clear 6 ML Ultra 600.  Unfortunately this film offers zero energy savings or glare reduction.

Here for example are Armorcoat 8 ML specifications and web reference sources:

Here are the key issues:

  • They want a hurricane strength window film that will not darken their home! Many homeowners prefer lighter almost invisible protection.  The solution?  Lumenesse Nano-Ceramic Window Film. Virtually invisible, our clients can have their cake and eat it! Heat rejection of 55% in an invisible 70% Visible Light Transmitting 8 ML Film.

  • They are confused by the contradictions from our competition.  Several had quotes from 3M and all were surprised to find out that 3M's film (all of their solar combination versions including the Prestige Ultra) do not meet the Level Impact Missile Test.

Sure the 3M dealer rep showed their rip test that might make you think their film is stronger. Once again tear resistance is NOT the determining factor on these impact and cycling tests or 3M would have passed this test on their S20, S25NV, S35, S50, Sclarl400 and their Prestige 50 and 70 ultra films. BUT- Unfortunately for them and their clients these films do not pass. PERIOD!

Our 8 ML Films DO PASS!!

  • We offer several VISTA and LLumar versions of dual benefit solar and safety films that immediately qualify for TECO and Progress Energy rebates. These utilities require a shading coefficient of less than .45

Interestingly competition seldom mentions these rebates? Perhaps that's because they are restricted to only their Silver versions or limited to one variety of film?

  • Our Vista and LLumar Magnum series and Huper Optik are all available in wider 6 Foot widths.  This means we never seam a window.

  • Armorcoat Shatter films have also passed these missile tests and we were quick to augment our portfolio with these films for 2009. The demand for Armorocat has really amazed our sales staff. Perhaps it's the optical clarity or the fact that the US Congress has this film on the Capitol Building.

Our film on the right and bottom left.  3M hazy film on the top left ready to be ripped off and replaced!

  • The optical clarity of our VISTA, Huper Optik and Lumenesse Films is incomparable!

  • Our VISTA and LLumar Magnum Series are certified by the NFRC. This is the same agency that rates energy efficiency of windows and doors. When we show clients our energy performance it isn't guess work or overstatements about cutting 97% of the Sun's energy, Infrared or whatever nonsense they might throw on the table.

  • We are fully stocked and ramped to meet our clients requirements within 24-48 hours. We are not on back-order.

  • How about Deed Restrictions? Lumenesse and Huper Optik meet all deed restrictions for Gated Communities.
