Getting Grand Slammed At Denny's
I have an old friend who happened to be a 3M Dealer.
That's how we met; but during that time we became friends.
When I left 3Min 2007 we stayed in touch. He checks on me every few weeks since September just to see how I am doing?
And . .
He's a well fed nut who loves to dine at upscale, white linen restaurants and order extremely expensive meals for himself, his gal pal, and an assortment of other folks in his employ; especially when someone else picks up the tab!!
Back then that Someone else was yours truly and his 3M Expense Account and Corporate Credit Card.
Well . . I inherit a new boss ( a bi-annual event) and even for a Frozen Chosen; this guy is wired somewhat differently.
He was the kind of guy who reviews an expense account like an IRS auditor. The tab for the fancy Prime Rib and Lobster restaurant I hosted my buddy and his entire sales team was $900 and I submitted it on my next voucher.
My newbie boss immediately mentions this expensive meal as soon as we meet at the airport Hilton.
Literally it's the very first thing he mentions.
I tell him that after all the dealer does buy plus $400,000 a year and while the tab was high
. . it is well worth it for customer service, blah blah blah. (What else would I say?)
As luck would have it my cell phone rings and it's my friendly $400,000 a year
Stepping aside to take the call I mention that this new manager is making a stink about the expensive dinner. Perhaps my buddy can do me a favor and thank Mr. New Boss for our generosity??
I can also see that this new manager is doing his best pantomime signaling that he wants to talk to him all on his own. I hand him my cell phone.
I'm watching his face as he converses with my dealer buddy.

Now. . and ever since. .
Every time I pass a Denny's I remember that prank and how upset that guy was about my friends unusual sense of humor.

What I haven't said is that my friend is a NUT.

Be nice I tell him.

His face is growing darker and darker. .
His head starts bobbling like a dolls.
His hands shaking, he gives me the phone and says:

"Your Mr. 400K complained about that cheap dinner you took him to at Denny's !!
"How can that be!!!!- with that bill for $900!!???"

" Moons Over Mi-Hammy??"
I just laughed.
