World's Nicest Window Tinter

Busy day as usual.  Running across the Tampa Bay area. .

Slipping into Bradenton and Sarasota while my competition snoozes and loses.

Up to Riverview and Ruskin.  Closed three more homes before heading west across the Gandy into Clearwater.

My destination a cozy home nestled in a cul de sac.

No trees just heat and glare.

So stink'in hot that you never see kids playing outside. .really.

They are all hiding in their dark caves playing videos.

So I do the quick review with my potential client.

HEAT- GLARE- HURRICANE-SAFETY

Price is very important (he tells me).

I agree that price is very important.

My prospect asks me if I have film in a 35?

He pauses. .looks around for his file and pulls out an Armorcoat sample card.

Where did he get that Armorcoat sample card???

He breaks down and confesses that he had so and so come by a few days ago. He's no estimate virgin.  He has had another quote.

It's there right in front of me all tidy inside an open file folder.

Dare I peek at so and so's price??
No. .  I  continue to fight that urge.

I take out that tape measure and begin my journey through his house.

I take out the old calculator and complete my totals and stop short of giving him a price.

When I do it's magically just slightly lower than my competitors quote because after all. . I did peek!

I ask what he liked about the guy who already gave him a price?  Why didn't he get the business?

He says "The other guy is really nice. . I mean really nice" but he adds,
"Nice don't pay the bills."

I nod knowingly since I recognize the deep wisdom in his words.

Nice don't pay the bills
I really need to write that down.

I tell him that I am
much nicer than the other guy.
