Granite State Ceramic Film Bid Contest
The tabulations just in:
Nearly 6,000 square feet.
Remarkable for "ceramic" film no matter who really made the film.
I lost my own bet but my pony placed and he can start Friday so technically??
My research shows this new 3M ceramic quacks like Tempe, waddles like Tempe, and ergo looks like Johnson's insulator, Mac 3000 and a few others that only come in 60 inch. (big hint)

I love to follow these larger bids just to get a feel for what's going on in the shall I say "macro" view of this window film world.
Here we have 1200 plus windows specifying ceramic films. I did note this RFP prior to the pre-bid meeting but seriously with as much business as we have across the state of Florida, etc. and knowing one of these dealers would give it away- - I stayed home.
I noticed that the real 3M dealer somehow had specified their as yet non-released ceramic 30 film. This prompted me to do some digging since, after all, we had heard all about this ceramic film as far back as their dealer meeting in Orlando in 2008.
That's when they were offering cash for dealers to set up competitive dealers. How did that work out for you?? (ah; but I digress)
The Koreans were also doing some jive talking within the industry about their total participation in this IR dyed film, so reading this film actually spec'd was rather eye opening.
I further noted that 3M's only national (their adjective- not mine!) and elite USA dealer Windowfilmdepot is seemingly bidding a non 3M ceramic film (confusing isn't it?) They are still bidding for a copy cat website but frankly at this juncture who cares?
This is conjecture based simply upon having a brain. Perhaps they will submit two bids?
I had to check that film name out since I'd never heard of it before and my loyal readers will accept that if I ain't heard of it - -it didn't exist until yesterday!?
Looks like a private label either Hanita or Suntek (I hate the mystery, but I am guessing Suntek since they have the ULV series) I love this win by a 3M dealer who beat prestige film with the SunTek ULV Film. Great job!
That reminds me of that 3M Dealer in Detroit who beat prestige with Geoshield on a 20,000 sq.ft. project. These 3M dealers are really impressing me in 2009.
Back to New Hampshire,
Now originally these "ceramic" films were the only films specified but someone has gotten to their purchasing people and they just added Geoshield, Huper Optik and Madico?? (Madcow doesn't make a ceramic film do they?? )
I can't wait to see who wins this deal.
I'd bet two latte's that my Tallahassee 3M friend guy wins the day!
Any takers?
That guy would do a project for a PB&J sandwich. Get this my window film insiders; he did the Salt Lake City Airport in an 8 ML Armorcoat with DOW on 56,000 sq ft for $2.56 a Sq. Ft.
Bid is due August 24, 2009.
May the best damn _______ dealer win.

Now here's a blog that gets my endorphins going!
Jeffry, Jeffry, Jeffry... already cheating on the big red wife are we??? Where's the loyalty?
This one is going to go cheap and dirty... and I do mean literally dirty. I've seen some of these guys installs.
Oh... and Madcow. They used to have a ceramic but they needed 72" so I heard they had to change the recipe to get it and now it is not quite a ceramic anymore. Figure that one out.
Can't wait to get me mits on the new 3M ceramic. Hope we can have as much fun with it as we have had with Prestige!

Visions puts in 4 bids and they still lose.
Meanwhile Peter is making a buck a square... Once again the Window Film Industry is functioning at its best!

I was guessing he made a bit less. But he deserved to win.
The guy is a "Saint" loyal to 3M and that particularly after all they have done for him in MA like letting Window Film Depot open there and setting up our Huper Optik friend as 3M. .
"Saint" may be an understatement.
I always let him be.
I did gather more information on this ceramic stuff than I'd otherwise have obtained thanks to this bid.
The 3M re-boxed stuff looks like this.
The Franson film is a private label Madico similar to mac 3000 which looks like this
And no one mentioned Johnson;s ceramic 30 which looks like this.
See any patterns?
How Innovative!

Making a buck a square? Not even that!At $3.50 or so per square foot, where is any profit?
I feel sorry for the bid "winner" and their customer. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

I am guessing that he was able to get 3M to drop their reboxed ceramic price to a reasonable $2.00 rather than a $2.50 amount. There is waste so . .you are 100% correct.
