Home Show Of Summers Past

Getting ready to head to the Orange County Convention Center to battle glare and heat in Central Florida.

Let's hope the show is busy.

Home Shows always remind me of the past and one particular Home Show that I will always remember.

Back in those days many dealers would do hokey demos like standing on a window placed on cinder blocks.

I gather the intent to show how strong our micro-layered film was?

So at this one event a "competitive" Madico guy decided to do that very same trick.

He blindsided the local 3M guy by bringing in his own cinder blocks and his own window with Madico security film.

The first day the Madico dealer strutted on the glass like a Carney Barker.

Across the aisle (literally) stood our 3M dealer doing his rippy rippy test, jumping higher on his glass.

The tension. . .

The emotion. . .

The drama. . .

The show ended that evening and everyone went home . . errrrr..

Except that 3M dealer.

He sneaked back in and sabotaged that Madico guy's window. (a strategic snip here; a snip there)

The next morning as that Madico guy triumphantly stood on his window it collapsed.

The 3M guy put on his most innocent face.

This really did happen.

We never bring windows to stand on!
