Three Years Of Changing That 3M Window Film Spec

7 PM:

The meeting was quite enjoyable.

We immediately attacked the performance specification and I have already sent our NFRC certification and upped the ante on the wind storm performance because the 3M S20 and their tape attachment system has not met any security performance criteria.  They meet small missile with a wet glazed system (after all) and do not pass the ASTM 1886 (c) at all!

That was even more enjoyable.

Happy Anniversary!
Mike

If there is one anniversary I'll take note of it's my "interesting" exit from 3M.

33 years is a long time and it really wasn't immediately clear how I would spend the rest of my days given the fact I wasn't quite ready to hang up those window film spikes in my early 50's!

It's only fitting that this very afternoon I'll be attending a pre-bid meeting changing a 3M S20SIAR400 specification into a LLumar R20 specification.   Perfection!!

This won't be a very hard task. After all from a practical perspective the solar comparisons are nearly identical.

Viewed from a safety and security perspective:

Both films meet the GSA level 3A
Both films have FM Global approval

Oh. . but only the R20 LLumar Film passed the independent ASTM1886 (Medium Missile Test and Cycling!)  Somehow at nearly twice the price the 3M film is too thin to pass. (Tell that to Kevin Smith!) ;>

That might be important in FLORIDA??
