Window Film's SIX Degrees Of Separation:
We have heard the story that all of us are connected by 6 people. .right?
Well the window film industry is a much tighter link.
Many dealers (independent businesses) purchase window films from numerous manufacturer's and distributors.
Many of the distributors had previously handled competitive brands and of course the personnel move from one company to another throughout the years.
My links are fairly extensive given my time at 3M.
Obviously I know a few 3M Window Film Dealers as well as some ex-3M Dealers throughout the USA. Clearly I might know a few VISTA, LLumar, Solar Gard, Madico, SunTek, Geoshield, Huper Optik. . .
Global, Hanita, V-Kool, Johnson. . .
At one time the competition was every company other than 3M Window Film and now my competition is everyone and 3M Window Film. . .
BUT- -I am not that unique.
When industry people meet we run through our common links and very often shared window tinting pedigree.
Names from the past and newcomers alike.
Just a few months ago I got a call from Paul Clark who was once upon a time the 3M Window Film Honcho when I got into window film.
He called me from Scotland to brag about his vacation on the golf course where golf began.
Now that was a hoot!
This is a splendid business with fascinating people and incredibly humorous experiences. Friendships are forged that last a lifetime and today's opponents can become your allies in days!
Really. .where else could I still have this much fun?
