Tampa's Down And Dirty- Window Tinting Fun
Let me take a step back from my daily blogging about the benefits of our window film and cast a glance at some of the let's call it unusual aspects of this interesting business.
There are a fair amount of competitors we run into throughout the Tampa area and Central Florida.
What never ceases to amaze me is the incredible amount of misinformation being told to unsuspecting prospective clients about the various brands of window film.
Let me try to address the most frequently told bits of baloney.
There are a few shady window film dealers posing as pseudo law enforcement types targeting trailer parks and mobile homes. They knock on doors telling people they are doing security checks and when you get down to the nitty gritty they are simply selling a thick security film at an outrageous fee.
Now I am all for the American capitalist system- -but if you received the frantic calls I frequently receive from some of our older neighbors you wouldn't think that this is that cool.
To compound that situation this bone head inflates their measurements by a good 50% and jacks up the cost even higher. .
BUT THAT"S NOT ALL.
We have another shrewd character leaving door hangers that imply his company is connected to our local utilities. Somehow he will do an energy audit (without any credentials) and guess what he's selling??
Yup- -Another fast talking tint man selling an average window film at extraordinary pricing claiming he is the ONLY ONE in Tampa that has this film. .cough- -cough!
He is also another guy who somehow finds imaginary glass to tint and inflates his orders by 50%.
Both these gents start pricing like they are installing platinum until the homeowner gives the slightest resistance.
Then suddenly the price starts dropping like Tiger Wood's mistress black book directory
Add to this my favorite competitors blabbing about working better at angles or nearly 97% heat rejection and you have my Thursday selling in Tampa.
Here's my perspective and always has been.
Our pricing is fair and we NEVER overstate the scope of a project.

- We prefer credentialed selling outlining fact based performance.
- Our warranty is in writing.
- Our brands are always identified.
- We NEVER fabricate our exclusivity or pretend a film is unique when it isn't.
