Once upon a time I spent my days trying to get dealers to buy my 3M Window Film. I'd visit dealers and listen to their host of complaints. That was then.
This is now!
Now I am a dealer.
Sure I privately complain about there being no standards for dealers. I chafe at the growing trend of competitive dealers who will knowingly substitute a cheap car tint on expensive homes. I groan at an assortment of miss-statements, half truths and outright lying by some of these folks.
My old motto was "Never complain- never explain"
It has served me well in the past and I'd like to think that it still applies.
I am going to break my rule right here and right now!
I am getting hot under the collar about a local competitor that takes advantage of our older senior consumers. Their unusual tactics include pricing that would shock any legitimate dealer and a heavy handed arm twisting approach that is simply reprehensible.
Representing themselves as qualified home energy auditors with the outcome an untested unproven energy savings box outside the home and Madico 440 Silver Safety and Security Film installed on the windows.
It doesn't take a genius to discover that consumers should verify the credentials of any company that represents themselves as an authorized energy auditor.

- Make certain that the company claiming to represent our local power companies is duly authorized!
- Double and triple check the authenticity of the device they will try to install outside your home that is claimed by them to reduce your electric bill by 30% !
- Caulking windows with GE clear silicone (a standard process by these folks) does not add to the security or efficacy of your window film installation against high winds. The Madico film has been tested using Dow 995 not the clear GE product!
- Triple check their measurements of your window sizes and square footage. They are inflating the scope of the work by a very large factor. Not only are their prices high; you are paying for film you did not get installed!
- There are many fine Madico dealers in the area. We are one and there are several others .
Beware of reported false claims that they are the only company that has this film or that Madico is the only company that can meet rebate requirements or some stated level of security protection.
- As a consumer you have rights and redress. Check with your local consumer affairs and senior advocates if you have fallen victim or believe you may shortly become a victim.
