Dirty Windows
My potential client called our office with a frequently heard dilemma:
His window film that had been installed years ago had gone bad. They couldn't see through all the distortion and wanted a "pro" to check out their windows.
He explained that he was trying to sell his home in these down times and everyone who looked at his windows frowned. (his words, not mine!)

I rushed over.
I rang the bell, handed my business card and asked him to direct me immediately to the offensive windows.
The glass was completely distorted.
I immediately thought to myself that it must be 3M window film. (You'll excuse my bias here; but I literally spent years pretending that the 3M films haze was a "good thing" because it showed you that our micro-layering was working!)
I ran my hand near the edge of the glass expecting to find the razor thin gap between where the film ended and the frame began.
Nothing. . .
I asked him if he had removed the film but perhaps unintentionally had left the adhesive residue?
This is a frequent problem since film can separate from the glue.
He said he had "done no such thing."
I rubbed the glass again and looked at my hand.

I asked him if he had any glass cleaner - -like Windex??
He ran to the kitchen and returned handing me the Windex and a paper towel and the dirt came right off.
He thanked me and asked me "what I charged" for this very scientific discovery?

The expert. The window film Maven.
Dr. of Tintology himself.

Black- - as though I had spent twenty minutes juggling charcoal briquettes!

Underneath??
Clear glass.
Clear glass.

I waived him off. This story was more than payment enough!
