Who died and left me the be all and end all of window tinting knowledge and authority?
Let's just say that we really do know the differences between the window films we represent and those we choose not to represent.
Let's just say that when I discuss window film with prospective clients I have to sift through hyperbole, dishonesty and ignorance spewed by many of my competitors about their solutions or comparing themselves to my preferred solutions.
They don't have a clue about why a certain film will rapidly turn purple, nor do many of them care.
With excuses like the poor economy always a thought away, they are hopelessly driven to surviving this week and possibly next. Seriously. .
We see dealers begging for business claiming they need to feed their kids. We see made up window film brand names that sound impressive when we know who really makes them and the low quality of their products.
I've beaten the drum about gimmicky tests and heat lamps that falsely portray my favorite competitors film as having more heat blocking capabilities than a dark silver metallic film. Total lies, ridiculous illusion with their naive victim the very next customer they trick.
We added films to our portfolio simply to show a client that objectively our primary solutions are superior. We don't sell many of these because we know better!
Not simply because I say it is but rather we base this decision in terms of aesthetics, performance, manufacturing processes and long term life expectancy.
In most case we refuse to offer the cheap shinier film at a lower price because we would prefer to offer a better dual reflective at a great price.
Sure there's a temptation to play right along.
I know how to do the same trickery, and spew the same nonsense that some of my competitors use.
They pretend that only a certain film can do such and such.
They claim all films are the same, or they are the only one's who have a certain film.
Tell me how we could pretend that a knock off film using inferior adhesives, or a dyed IR inhibitor could be equal to a Huper Optik Film or a Vista Film?
They position themselves as being more careful about their installations or that by squeegeeing their own film somehow that equates to a superior job. Are you kidding me?
It's your home. Possibly your largest investment.
You can make any choice you want, no one will stop you.
After 33 years at 3M I finally figured out this window film business.
We have done 4,000 installations since early 2007 and while I don't pretend to know everything about window film, (I am right up there in knowledge and my son is getting darn close!) I am not concerned that anyone in Florida has a deeper understanding of these films and anyone that does has been extremely quiet these last few years. (They of course know who they are!)
If you want cheap- -we have it.
If you don't care what the film looks like on your glass, we will get it for you.
But. .we think that there's a much better approach. Don't you?
