My Cheap Tampa Car Tinting Plan

That's all well and good when you are doing the work for consumers who have the money to spend. 

What do you do when the person calling you on the phone is simply looking for the best price?

I've thought about this for a very long time and have come to the conclusion that rather than lose business to a bonehead who tints at a Flea Market or advertises on Craig's List the better choice is to grab these bargain hunters and make the very best deal we can offer.


So. . . I tried this out yesterday for the very first time.


A woman called asking how much we would charge for tinting a 4 door Mini-Cooper?

I gave her my typical pitch explaining that we offer the very best window films like FormulaOne and Huper Optik .  We also offer the Classic Series and LLumar's most popular film, the ATR.
I gave her some round number pricing and she said, or gasped . ."Thanks. ."

Her reaction when my price was $25 higher than the Flea market guy who tints under a tent.

Now normally I'd let her go and act appreciative that she took the time, to waste my time.

Phony, nice-nice, typically ending when I tell her "to have a nice day!"
Not this time!

Instead I asked her what prices she had already received from my competition?

She rattled off some prices (all lower than mine!)

I asked her what type of film these folks were installing?

She didn't have a clue, nor did she seem to care. You'd think she was ordering a medium pizza pie with cheese.

Hmmmmm. .

I told her if I would match or beat that lowest price, would she bring her car in right away?

She said yes.

One half hour later she arrived in her Mini-Cooper.

She left happy.
We did the job well and may get referrals.
