The Gate Keeper-Warding Off Telemarketers

I never realized just how many organizations and companies have our company on their telemarketing contact list.

The phone starts ringing early and lasts throughout the day into the evening.

"Can I speak to the person who handles advertising?"
"Can I speak to the person who makes marketing decisions?

There's the Yellow Page people still feigning relevance while pushing their bogus websites.

The local schools and police who want me to sponsor a yearbook, or a police line-up?

The state police and the Benevolent Brothers something or other, the MDA, the Cancer people, The Heart Foundation, The Breast Cancer Awareness folks.

Website SEO folks who can all make my page show up Number One on GOOGLE.

Local search, Yodle, and YEXT.

Folks who can stick your ad on the back of a grocery store receipt or on a place mat at a local diner.

One guy can get my ads on garbage pails or benches.

Local golf clubs who want us to sponsor a hole; any hole!

Postcard companies, home magazines, The St Pete Times, RSVP, The Trib. .

Radio and TV. .

A Billboard gal.

And. . a host of credit card processing companies that can all reduce my transaction costs by 30%!

IT NEVER ENDS.

We tell all of them that our marketing decision maker lost his mind years ago.

He just mumbles every so often.

While we wait for the inevitable end we simply can't make any decisions at all.

We'll let them know when he kicks the bucket!

Until then. .

Lose our telephone number!
