Summer Done-Window Film Consulting Time To Reinvent

It's that time of year again when clients open up their sliders and windows to enjoy cool breezes and fresh air!

That usually means a slow down in business for many window film installation companies since AC bills will be lower and most people have a host of other priorities to consider.

When I traveled around the USA during my days at 3M; I would marvel at the success of dealers in frigid climates. Snow, ice and cloudy skies, yet somehow they were able to keep on keeping on!

Each market is unique.

The variables include population, demographics, climate, and the type of direct window film competition.

Economic declines particularly in new and resale homes, plus the foreclosure crises has played havoc with the residential opportunities for window film dealers in the USA since 2007-8.

Weather factors like the missing hurricanes in Florida since 2005 have limited the sale of security safety window film whether the shutter companies like it or not.

Reinventing your business model is a difficult undertaking.

If you are successful (read profitable) you might be disinclined to change anything!

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

My premise is that whatever your level of success there are components that may require adjusting, improvement and re-evaluation.

How long did it take for business owners to recognize the limited value of Yellow Page advertising?

How quickly did small businesses become internet capable?

Many of my contemporaries who have had decades of experience in running their window film businesses have
stubbornly held on to outdated and less effective strategies and tactical planning.

They remain steadfast in representing one particular brand of film or another, based on history and comfort.  They have not faced the new reality that while they remain fixed into one paradigm, the world around them has shifted in unprecedented ways.

Tapping into the consumer consciousness is the vehicle that drives sales and profits.

Rationalizing every aspect of your business from manpower and overhead costs to marketing and advertising opportunities is critical.

This is the type of business where past success is fleeting and there is no guaranty for future outcomes.

Changes you make today will produce the sales you will enjoy in 2012.

If you are a window film dealer (outside my direct hunting grounds) we can consult with you to help you increase your 2012 sales.
